Completely Free and Adaptive.
Each lesson plan by Emily Co. includes the following completely free and accessible for families of all shapes and sizes.
- a milestone-achieving goal setting session that includes both students & their parents
- recommended extracurricular activities
- instructions for the parent on how to guide learning for this topic
- instructions for the student on what they should plan to include in their learning journal
- a five-mins or less lecture introducing the topic (a written version and a video version)
- a vocabulary list with spelling, definitions, and synonyms
- a recommended reading list as a jumping off point for research
- while the student adds to their art-oriented learning journal, the parent supervises
- next, an integration and imaginative play meditation
- after research there’s a practical applications project
- then, a proofs and presentation stage. During this step, the student highlights anything important in their learning journal, commits it to the memory…and makes their work so far suitable for their creative portfolio.
- then, an oral narration session takes place. This is when the student sums up aloud to the parent what they learned, and you can open a discussion with them.
- lastly in each lesson plan there is a self-assessment guide, so the student can know when they’re ready to move on to the next topic.
- each lesson plan also includes a test-out option, where students can prove they already know the information and move on to the next topic sooner.
At the end of each year, there is a multi-subject comprehensive final exam offered, in case your state requires you to prove the student is meeting competency milestones. This final exam is unique- it has a written portion, and an additional portion where they use drawing, music, videography, or another creative medium to sum up their knowledge on these topics.
